The 6th Sense Continuum of Collective Self, hereinafter referred to as ‘The 6th Sense Continuum’, is a visual and interactive representational frame that draws on scientific research, technological, indigenous and other knowledge systems to guide
individuals and groups of people to process information they receive....
The channels through which we receive information about our world and humanity
include family, friendship, disappointments, love, hate, happiness, religion, faith,
politics, upbringing, lived experiences, history, media, education, and culture.
Belief, bias and internalisation are the means by which we absorb information,
particularly information that may be shocking with regard to trauma, racism,
homophobia and stigmatisation, stereotypes, aggression, sickness, mental illness,
impulsiveness and nurture.
The next stage of the 6th Sense Continuum is to condense information that we
absorb through critical reflection and dialogue to understand one’s vulnerability.
This may entail an ‘anti-clockwise’, unorthodox analysis of information leading to a
renewed awareness of what has been absorbed, why, how and where it has been
absorbed. A person may at this stage act out unconsciously in the form of
unconscious bias and shed tears, as she/he looks in the metaphorical mirror and
recognises his or her own vulnerability and releasing fears.
The transformational stage sets in through believing, openness, honesty, resilience,
friendship, forgiving oneself, hope, courage, knowing and understanding the causes
of action and inaction, learning from experience, accepting changes with grace and
believing in oneself among others.
At the transitional stage, a person, being aware of his/her vulnerability, becomes
rejuvenated, open and energetic enough to share thoughts. He/she has a feeling of
new awareness and experiences, and engages in two-way communications that
nurture the person into becoming spiritually resilient and a knower.
Upon attaining the 6th Sense of Continuum, there is internal realization of the
oneness of humanity - that we are all one and ‘it takes two to tango’. The Ubuntu
philosophy that ‘without you, I am not’ becomes relevant and there is a strong urge for change in one’s behaviour and attitudes........
The 6th Sense Continuum propels the continuation of the past into the present, and
vise versa. One of the hallmarks of freedom of self and community is living by values
higher than average – values such as the ethical, the aesthetic, the heroic, the
humanitarian and the altruistic. So, we must nurture our spiritual values by
consciously living a life that honors kindness, love, humility and beauty. It means
continuously making choices that bring them to the fore in all areas of life. Helping
others is one of the most powerful things one can do to speed up personal growth.
Make sure you extend the same kindness to yourself. So whatever you’ve done or
not done in the past, forgive and love yourself anyway.
